Industry and
Retail: Total Consumption May Be < Unplanned Consumption
Use
Prior to Release 4.6C, it was assumed that
total consumption in forecasting always exceeded unplanned consumption. If
corrected values were entered in Change mode in the
material master on the Consumption screen so that
total consumption no longer exceeded unplanned consumption, the system
responded in one of the following ways, depending on whether you
were:
- Updating total consumption by entering a
corrected value
Prior to Release
4.6C, if unplanned consumption (in the unplanned consumption view) exceeded
total consumption (in the current view), the higher value for unplanned
consumption (original value) was overwritten by the corrected lower value for
total consumption.
- Updating unplanned consumption by entering a
corrected value
Prior to Release
4.6C, if total consumption (in the total consumption view) was less than
unplanned consumption (in the current view), the lower value for total
consumption (original value) was overwritten by the corrected higher value for
unplanned consumption.
This check was made in dialog mode (industry
and retail), in ALE (industry and retail), and in direct input (industry
only).
As of Release 4.6C, this check is no longer
made because the posting of returns (negative consumption) can cause total
consumption to be less than unplanned consumption.
