BOM Transfer and Assemblies Used More than Once

Use

If you manufacture a complex product, it can be the case that an assembly with a particular material number in the multi-level BOM for a sales order item is used in several nodes.

In such cases, we recommend that you execute an instantiation or a material replacement before transferring an order BOM to Project System. By doing this, you ensure that the system correctly determines the quantities for all assemblies in all the processing situations.

Activities

Check in order analysis, whether one or more assemblies are used several times in the multi-level BOM.

Choose Logistics ® Production ® Master data ® Bills of material ® Bill of material ® Order BOM ® Order browser.

The Edit Order BOM screen appears.

Click Order analysis.

The List of Results for the Analysis screen appears.

Select the

Multiple assemblies tab page.

The assemblies listed on this tab page are used more than once in the multi-level BOM for the sales order item.

If an assembly is used more than once, replace the material on the individual nodes, so no two BOM headers in the multi-level BOM have the same material number.

For configurable assemblies use instantiation in variant configuration .

For non-configurable assemblies use material replacement in the order browser.
