Creating an
As-Built Configuration with Reference to Production Data
Use
An as-built configuration is a special form of
installed base. It describes the structure of a serialized assembly that has
been produced and the status or history of its individual components. You can
use an as-built configuration to look at the status and history of a produced
assembly at any time and to record changes to an as-built configuration in the
form of an as-maintained configuration.
Since Release 4.5A, you have been able to
create installed bases manually (see the release note for
Installed Base Management).
In Release 4.6C, a tool is available that
enables you to create as-built configurations from production data. This tool
can be integrated in the production process:
- Evaluation of production data
The available
production data from production orders and process orders is evaluated. If
possible, the system proposes a structure for the as-built configuration or
transfers data automatically to the as-built configuration. In addition, the
tool carries out consistency checks using the production data (for example,
product structure).
- User-friendly graphical user
interface
An as-built
configuration can be created manually. A user-friendly and efficient user
interface with drag & drop functions is available for this
purpose.
- Creating an as-built configuration during
single screen entry of confirmations
As-built
configurations can be created during the single screen entry of confirmations
(CO11). To do this, the corresponding detail area must be inserted into the
screen for single screen entry of a confirmation. In this process, a record is
then kept of which serialized components have been incorporated into the
individual assemblies.
Effects on
Customizing
To insert the detail area for creating an
as-built configuration into the screen for single screen entry, carry out the
following activity in the Implementation Guide (IMG):
Customizing for Shop
Floor Control: Operations -> Confirmations -> Single Screen
Entry -> Define Single Screen Entry.
