You can change the attributes in the BOM at any time.

Call up the block in question. The itemized BOM block is stored in the directory ..\GEN\DWG\MSK\POS (the file name is GENBPOS.DWG).

Using the block editor, explode the row block that you want to change. The system displays the sub-block and its attributes. Change the constellation of attributes, or replace attributes with user-defined attributes.

The footer block GENBPOS0 does not contain any attributes.

Problem: You want to enter the weight in the ID number field in the BOM. You also want to enter the ID number where the weight originally was entered.

• Using the block editor, explode row block GENBPOS1. Now change 11GENST to 12GENST, and vice versa. The easiest way to do this is to use the DDEDIT command.
• Once you have made your changes, start the block editor again so that you can regenerate the row block, and confirm the defaulted name (GENBPOS1).

Theoretically, there are two ways of ensuring that the attribute field names in the footer block correspond to those in the change row block:

• You call up the DDEDIT command, and select the character string (genmsg "gendwg" 41). Change the value 41 to 42. proceed in exactly the same way for the original character string (genmg "gendwg" 42), and change the value 42 to 41. Basically, all you have done here has been to switch round the entries in the footer block that are read from the file GENDWG.MLD.
• You call up the DDEDIT command, and enter the character string ‘Weight’ for the character string (genmsg "gendwg" 41). Proceed in exactly the same way for the ID number. In this case, only the entries "Weight" and "ID number" are defined in the footer block.
