BOM File Name

Use

You can specify the file name and file path for the BOM file here.

The default setting is the name of the drawing.
If the drawing does not yet have a name, you must specify a BOM file name. If you do not specify a file path, the file is written to the current directory (working directory). The extension *.TXT is defaulted automatically – you do not need to enter it.

The data records are stored in "comma delimited" format in the BOM file. This file is always created – it forms the basis for all other data operations.

Options

Using an existing file

AutoCAD will use the existing *.TXT file for the drawing to create the BOM. This means that any changes made to the drawing that affect the BOM will be ignored.

Overwriting with data from the drawing:

If you choose this option, AutoCAD creates a new *.TXT file using the current information in the drawing. The existing file of the same name will be overwritten.
