Summarized form of posted amounts or quantities used for analysis purposes.

When you post business transactions, the postings are saved as documents. For all reports and analyses made in accounting, you can access the information of these documents. The disadvantage of this is the amount of time required to read a large number of documents, especially if documents have already been archived.

For this reason, amounts and quantities entered in the SAP System are also saved in summarized form for evaluation purposes. This summarized data is immediately available for online reports. For many standard reports, the documents do not have to be read, since the information required is already available in the summary data.

Examples of reports that use summary data are:

• Account balance display
• Trial balance
• Balance sheet and profit and loss statement in G/L account area
