FI-LC: Interactive Excel for Accessing Consolidation Data

Description

Using "Interactive Excel", you can directly access consolidation data in the R/3 System using common spreadsheet analysis software and generate reports, the values of which are automatically updated when called up.

The following functions are possible:

• Master data: Companies, subgroups, financial statement items and versions can be displayed in listboxes in a similar way to the F4 help function in the R/3 System and can be transferred to the spreadsheet.

• Set functions: Selection of a dataset (e.g. set of financial statement items in form of a line layout)

• Valuation functions: Transfer of values from the consolidation database (local, corporate and consolidated values)

• Table function: Transfer of company data (transfer of the company table by column).

• Report function: Transfer of the ownership list (transfer of the report list by column).

• Pivot table: Transfer of a three-dimensional data cube to MS Excel.

To be able to use Interactive Excel, MS Excel is started with the add-in file delivered by SAP.

In addition to the MS Excel standard menu bar, two further menu options "R/3 logon" and "Consolidation" are thrn available. In the step --> R/3 logon --> Logon, the user first logs on to an R/3 System from MS Excel. Then, the functions mentioned above are available in the step "Consolidation".

Software/hardware requirements

The function can only be used on a PC that has access to the R/3 System and where Microsoft Excel 5.0 has been installed.

Installation information

The functions of Interactive Excel are implemented as a Microsoft Excel "add-in". The necessary program files are delivered on CD.

Further notes

The active data link between MS Excel and the R/3 database uses the RFC interface (Remote Function Call). RFC enables the desktop application to communicate directly with the function modules of the R/3 application.
