Capacity Availability Check

You can use the capacity availability check in every planning phase to check the capacity availability for orders. It checks for every operation in an order whether there is sufficient capacity at the work center at the production date. If there is insufficient capacity then the system proposes a date for the planner when the order can be processed without causing bottlenecks. This ensures that dates are only accepted if they are feasible given the capacity load.

If an order cannot be processed because of insufficient capacity then the planner can recalculate the operation dates for the order within finite scheduling. The new dates are determined in such a way that an overload does not occur again.

The capacity requirements of other orders or operations at a work center, the basic load, is taken into account in the capacity availability check. The existing capacity requirements are determined by the basic load determination (see Determine basic load).

You can carry out a capacity availability check in various situations such as:

The capacity availability check only takes capacities into account for which the indicator Relevant to finite scheduling is set. You can set this indicator in capacity maintenance on the header screen in the section Planning details.

Before you check the capacity availability you should determine the basic load that already exists. To do this read Determining the basic load.
