Process message evaluations can be carried out using predefined evaluation versions or settings that have been made specifically for the individual evaluation run. If your evaluation differs only slightly from a pre-defined evaluation version, you can change the corresponding settings for the evaluation without permanently changing the evaluation version.

The following settings must be defined when you start your evaluation:

• any selection rules for process messages you would like to use

• the layout for the SAP XXL list viewer or the SAP business graphic, depending on the type of evaluation you want to carry out

Before you start an evaluation run, you can call up a preview to check whether there is any message data matching your selection. The preview shows the same message data as the actual evaluation. However, the data is available more quickly because it is displayed in list format within R/3.

When you carry out an evaluation via the SAP XXL List Viewer, you must provide the following information specifically for this evaluation run:

• the evaluation period, that is, the creation dates of the process messages to be evaluated

• the category of the process messages to be evaluated (optional)

• whether the data should be

• displayed in the list viewer
• transferred directly to Excel 5 for presentation in the form of a Pivot table
• downloaded to a file on your PC
• transferred to your SAPoffice inbox

When you carry out an evaluation via the SAP business graphic, you must provide the following information specifically for this evaluation run:

• the evaluation period, that is, the creation dates of the process messages to be evaluated

• the category of the process messages to be evaluated (optional)

• the type of chart to be used

• the message characteristics to be used for the individual evaluation run

For the characteristic selection, the characteristics pre-selected on the layout screen are listed in two groups for numeric and non-numeric values. Besides, a message is displayed which informs you how many characteristics of each group you can choose for the type of chart selected.
