Release 3.0 has a new work process type to handle update2 requests, the update2 work process.
If one or more servers has update2 work processes, update2 requests are distributed among these servers. The Update2 service is shown in the server list (SM51) opposite the name of servers that have these work processes.
If ther is no server with update2 work processes, update2 requests are distributed among ('dispatched to') the update1 servers and handled by update1 work processes.
The work process overview shows shows type UPD for update1 work processes and type UP2 for update2 work processes.
The number of update2 work process for a server is defined by the following parameter:
If a new server is installed by SAPinstance and is given the update service, an update2 work process is installed as well as the update1 work processes.
