In Italy, numbers are assigned to billing documents chronologically, in ascending order and without any gaps. It is not permitted, for example, to enter billing document number 9200045 on a given day and then enter number 9200044 the following day.

In Italian companies, a certain employee is usually responsible for making entries in a table and determining the date of the billing document. To maintain the table, on the initial R/3 screen, choose Logistics ® Sales and distribution ® Billing, then Environment ® Set billing date.
