Choose (Function)

Choose is a function at task level the user can use to navigate to the processing of a previously selected object. List or table entries can be chosen with Choose. A function is then immediately executed on the selected entry.

The user will generally use Choose in a list of objects. After selecting one or more objects (see Selection Methods - Overview), the user executes Choose to navigate to a default processing of these objects.

In the border check document, the user selects one of the lines of the document and navigates with Choose to a "full screen" display of the line.

Specific Naming

If a better, more specific name than Choose can be found for the concrete situation, this is to be used (for example, not "Choose program", when this involves the execution of the program, but rather: "Execute program").

Display, Add, Transfer

Competing Function

If functions for choosing can be executed on parts of a line as well as on the entire line, the function Choose is to be used for the parts of a line.

In the invoice verification document, the user can call detailed information with regard to the vendor and the client by choosing a function - regardless of the cursor position - as well as display detailed information about an entire position (that is, concerning an entire line). Choosing the position, that is, the entire line, occurs with another function (here: Copy), which is not on the F2 key.
