Guidelines - Current Conventions
Groups
Function key groups were developed to standardize the function key settings and to make it as flexible as possible. They determine the way in which a function key in the corresponding group can be used.
Every function key belongs to one of the following four groups:
Group 1
SAP standard function keys:
This group contains function keys which have the same function throughout the SAP System and which should almost always be available. If a function in this group is not active in a particular task, the corresponding function key must never be assigned to another function.Group 2
Predefined function keys, if the function is active:
This group contains function keys which should only be assigned to the functions specified for this group. Functions of this group do not need to be continuously active. If the function is not used in a task, the function key may be used for another function.Group 3
Recommended function keys, if the function is active:
This group contains function keys which should be assigned to the function specified here (recommendation), if active. The key can be used for another active function as long as the recommended function is not active in a task.Group 4
Function keys with no specific function assigned to them:
This group contains function which are seldom used.Only Active With Function Key
Functions which were assigned function keys of groups 1 and 2 cannot be active without the respective function key. Functions of groups 3 and 4 can also be active without function key.
Functions Not Listed
Functions that are not listed (group 4) can be assigned to any available function key (except for those in group 1).
Functions Without Function Key
It should be noted that a number of functions are not to be assigned to any function key.
Consistent Function Keys
Within an application, try to use standard function keys for functions active in several of the application's tasks.
