Material Requirements Planning: Period Lot-Sizing Procedures with Splitting and Overlapping
Description
In release 3.0, not only can you use the fixed lot size with splitting and overlapping, but you can also apply this technique to the period lot size. In each period, the lot is split into partial quantities for which planned orders are created. The planned orders are dated so that they overlap each other.
The period lot size with splitting and overlapping represents a campaign based on periods. On the other hand, the fixed lot size with splitting and overlapping represents a campaign based on quantites.
- the period lot size is based on the actual period requirements
- for the fixed lot size, it is already known that a specific quantity must be produced by a certain date
Steps to take
In Customizing, you must enter the indicator for overlapping (backward or
forward) for the period lot-sizing procedure.
In the material master record, you must enter the cycle time. This is the time
that determines how the individual planned orders for the period lot are to
overlap each other.
The partial quantities into which the planned order is to be split, is set in
the field, maximum lot size (and not in the field, rounding value).
Change system parameters in customizing
For the period lot size with splitting and overlapping, you must enter the
overlapping indicator for the period lot size that you want to use for this
technique.
