SOP: Resources Planning

Description

In Release 2.2 you could view the capacity situation of a material or product group in the planning table. On the basis of this information, you could foresee any shortage or waste of capacities and take the necessary action: for example, by adjusting production quantities to achieve optimum use of your work center capacities or by taking on temporary staff during a peak period in order to meet vital production targets.

This function is still available to you in standard SOP.

In Release 3.0 you can plan requirements of four different types of resources:

This data is stored in a rough-cut planning profile.

Note

In a later release, you will be able to carry out resources leveling based on a rough-cut planning profile, by comparing the resources required to perform a particular activity with the resources actually available.

Rough-Cut Planning Profiles

Rough-cut planning profiles are designed for the planning of the resources available and required to meet given targets. These can be sales targets, production targets, purchasing targets, or any other kind of logistical targets. A rough-cut planning profile gives you an aggregate view on your resources; that is, you look at workdays rather than hours or minutes, and work center groups and product groups rather than individual work centers or products. It is therefore an ideal tool for medium- and long-term planning or for the planning of hierarchies.

You create a rough-cut planning profile in a few simple steps. Your data is set out in a resources table in which each column corresponds to one planning period. The resources table shows you a lot of information at a glance, that is, the resources required not just for the final assembly level but for the entire production process from the lowest-level components to the finished product.

In a rough-cut planning profile, you define:
