Enhancements in "Basic Data"

Use

Planned Results Data Origin

In the past, you could specify the origin of an inspection result while recording inspection results (for example, whether the result came from a certificate, batch, etc.). As of Release 4.6C, you can plan the results data origin in the task list and material specification. This planned results data origin serves as a proposal that can be changed during results recording.
For more information, see the release note Transferring Formatted Inspection Results to a Certificate.

New Data Field "Internal Characteristic ID"

For the exchange of quality data, you can store an internal characteristic ID in a master inspection characteristic, task list, and material specification.
For more information, refer to the release note Transferring Formatted Inspection Results to a Certificate.

"General Data" Screen for Master Inspection Characteristic and Inspection Method

When you process master inspection characteristics or inspection methods, the data fields and administrative information now appears on the "General Data" screen. The screens that previously contained this data (screens 103 and 104 for inspection methods, and screens 112 and 113 for master inspection characteristics) no longer exist.

If you process master inspection characteristics or inspection methods via batch input and fill these fields with data, you must now do this on screen 101. The previous navigation on screens 103 (inspection methods) or 112 (master inspection characteristics) no longer exists.

Searching for Master Inspection Characteristics and Inspection Methods

You can now search for master inspection characteristics and inspection methods using the short text.

Catalogs in Customizing

You can now process the catalogs (code groups and selected sets) in Customizing. As with all other tables in Customizing, the catalog tables also have an automatic transport link. Note, however, that long texts are not transported and usage indicators are not reset during a transport.
You can also continue to maintain the catalogs in the menu for QM basic data. SAP recommends that you continue to treat the catalogs as master data and maintain them in the target system (assuming no important reasons exist for doing this otherwise).
