Material Requirements Planning: New Functions in the
MRP List and in the stock/requirements list.
Description
In release 3.0, several new functions are available for the evaluation of
the planning run:
1. new functions for searching in
lists
2. daily grouping of the dependent
requirements
3. flexible display of the "extended
header"
4. display of the receipt date as
availability date or date of the goods receipt
5. possible to save settings in the MRP
list and in the stock/requirements list
6. possible to save the last selected
standard unit of measure
7. reorganization of the MRP lists
8. material memo
These new functions are explained in the following functions.
1. New functions for searching in
lists
a) Exception messages are highlighted on
accessing the evaluation so that the MRP controller can recognize exceptional
situations immediately. This means that all the lines with exception messages
are highlighted to start off with. You can search either according to the date
or according to planning segments.
b) All exception messages for a material
can be indicated as processed. In this case, the MRP list is flagged with the
processing indicator. The system then checks in the following planning run
whether the exception message has already appeared for the same MRP element
and these are automatically flagged as processed.
c) With the function
Search (select Edit -> Search), the
system displays a list of the exception messages that are contained in the
current MRP list. You also see how often an exception message appears in this
evaluation. A selection according to planning segment is also available which
you can use if various segments exist in the MRP list. You can also select
according to the dates of the MRP elements.
In this list, you can select which exception messages are to be highlighted.
Thus, you can select, for example, the exception messages that have high
priority for processing purposes. It is also possible in the MRP list to
select only processed and unprocessed exception messages. Processed exception
messages have occurred in previous planning runs for the MRP element.
Unprocessed exception messages are those that are new in the last planning
run.
d) With the key, "Continue search", you can
spring from one highlighted exception to another. If you have already defined
that only specific exceptions are to be displayed with the function Exception
selection, then the system only springs to these particular messages and
ignores the others.
e) In the collective display of the MRP
list, the MRP controller can make selections using the selection criteria,
only unprocessed exception messages. The system then
only displays the materials which received new, unprocessed exception messages
in the planning run.
2. Daily grouping of dependent
requirements
With the indicator, grouping requirements in the
material master record (MRP 2 screen), the following settings can be made for
the MRP evaluation:
If several dependent requirements exist on one day, they are groued together
into one dependent requirement. In the MRP list and in the stock/requirements
list, only one dependent requirement is displayed per day.
At the same time the system displays the number of dependent requirements that
are grouped together in the line where the total daily requirements are
displayed.
In the MRP list and in the stock/requirements list, the following settings are
possible:
- Grouping dependent reuqirements of a selected day:
Position the cursor on one of the dependent requirements of the selected day
and choose, Settings -> Reqmts grouping -> Group daily reqmts.
- Grouping dependent requirements for all days on which more than one
requirement was created:
Select, Settings -> Reqmts grouping -> Group all together.
- Opening an individual daily requirement that has been grouped
together:
Position the cursor on the dependent requirement and open the daily dependent
requirement with a double- click of the mouse.
- Opening all daily dependent requirements that are grouped together:
Select, Settings -> Grouping reamts -> Display all lines
1. Flexible display of the
"extended header"
The detailed header provides an overview of master data and movement data
for each material. This data is grouped together in release 3.0 in individual
screens per topic which you can scroll through in the MRP list and in the
stock/requirements list. You can also display an extended version of the
detailed header, that contains all pre-defined data for the material.
You use the MRP type to control which screens are to be displayed in the
MRP evaluation.
For this purpose, the screens are arranged according to screen sequences in
Customizing. The screen sequences are provided with keys that are then
allocated to the MRP type. Therefore, it is possible, for example, to display
other master data for materials that are planned using consumption-based
planning methods from materials that are planned using MRP techniques.
A special screen is defined for the MRP list where the MRP date, the
processing indicator, the MRP controller, and the following new functions are
displayed:
- number of exception messages per exception group
- processing date, that is the date on which the processing indicator was
set
- indicator that displays whether new exception messages were created
You can either change the preset screen sequence from SAP, or you can
allocate other MRP types or you can define new screens using SAP-SCREEN
PAINTER. You can find more information on this in the Implementation Guide for
MRP.
1. Displaying the receipt date as
availability date or the date of the GR
In the stock/requirements list, you can set the MRP date for the receipt
elements as either the availability date or the date of the goods receipt. The
availability date is the date that results from adding the goods receipt
processing time to either the order finish date or the delivery date. The date
of the goods receipt is the order finish date or the delivery date, that is
the date that production has been completed or the delivery date. To switch
from one date to the other, select Settings -> Receipt date
-> Availability or Goods receipt.
1. Saving the last selected
standard unit of measure
It is possible to define the standard unit of measure in that the
evaluations are to be displayed according to your needs. The following
standard units of measure are available:
To do this, proceed as follows: select the input entry help on the field,
Unit . In the dialog box that appears, the standard
unit of measure is displayed for the material in the third column. Select a
standard unit of measure, for example the order unit. The result of this
selection is that when this user branches into either the stock/requirements
list or the MRP list, all the materials (for which a unit of measure has been
maintained) will be displayed in the respective order unit.
1. Saving the settings in the MRP
list and in the stock/requirements list
The following settings can be set to suit your own requirements:
- access with detailed header
- display of the multi-option column in the period totals
- settings for the selection in the collective display of the MRP list
With the function Settings -> Selection parameters ->
Save, all the settings are saved that were selected while
processing the current list.
1. Reorganization of the MRP
lists
A report is available for reorganizing the MRP lists which can be found in
the MRP menu under the mennu option, Environment. By
entering the selection criteria, plant, material, and MRP date, the system
deletes all the MRP lists from the database that are no longer required.
This report can also be started in a test session. You can also instruct the
system to print out a list of the deleted MRP lists.
1. Material memo
It is possible to create a memo for every MRP list or stock/requirements
list. To do this, select Goto -> Material
memo.
Change system parameters in customizing
For the flexible organization of the detailed header, you must make the
following settings in Customizing:
a) Allocation of sequences to screen
sequences.
Please read the Implementation Guide for more
information on this topic.
