Interface Between CO-PA and LIS

Use

The interface between Profitability Analysis (CO-PA) and the Logistics Information System (LIS) provides a number of ways to transfer data between your operating concerns and the info structures in LIS.

The interface is only available in costing-based Profitability Analysis.

This section describes the various uses as seen from the viewpoint of each application.

Interface from the CO-PA Viewpoint

You can transfer your sales plan from CO-PA to LIS for further processing.

You can transfer a sales plan created in CO-PA to Sales and Operations Planning (SOP), an information structure used for the quantity plan.

See also Transfer to Sales and Operations Planning (SOP).

The basic difference between these two transfer functions is that the SOP info structure is used to store quantities only. Consequently, it does not contain any values in currencies.

Interface from the LIS Viewpoint

You can transfer a sales quantity plan from SOP back to CO-PA.

Once you have checked capacities based on the sales quantity plan from CO-PA, you can transfer the corrected quantities back to CO-PA, where you can valuate them again.

Activity-Based Costing (CO-OM-ABC) requires statistical key figures - such as "Purchase order items per period" - in order to assess process costs to CO-PA. Since these key figures normally are not updated in CO-PA but do exist in LIS, they can be transferred to CO-PA periodically.

This data is stored in the CO-PA line item table CE1xxxx (xxxx = operating concern) using record type H.

The interface between CO-PA and LIS covers all the instances where data that exists in one application should be available in the other application. This allows you to use the functions of both to achieve the maximum practical use.

This interface is typically used to define a production plan iteratively. First, a sales quantity plan is created in CO-PA from a revenue-oriented viewpoint. Then these quantities are transferred to LIS where they are adjusted to fit capacities. After this, the sales quantities are sent back to CO-PA, where they used as a basis for a revenue plan.

This cycle can be repeated as often as necessary.

Activities

You set up the interface between CO-PA and LIS (that is, the assignment of the CO-PA operating concern to the LIS info structure) in CO-PA Customizing by choosing Planning ® Integrated planning ® Define LIS interface. You can find in this section more information on how to proceed.

Data transfer from CO-PA to LIS can be executed in the CO-PA application menu under Planning ® Integrated planning ® Planned values ® Transfer to LIS.
