Example: Planning Framework

A company would like to plan sales for the following year. Three employees are responsible for sales, and each should plan for one of three sales organizations (North, SouthEast, and SouthWest).

  1. The planning level Sales has been created with the following characteristics:

Since all three employees are to plan for the same period, using the same record type and plan version, the relevant characteristic values should be specified at the planning level under Selection.

  1. In the second step, the market segments to be planned are determined. For the planning level defined previously, three planning packages (OrgNO, OrgSE and OrgSW) are also created. A sales organization is specified in each planning package under Selection (OrgNO -> North, OrgSE -> SouthEast and OrgSW -> SouthWest). Since the distribution channels should not be limited, no other selection is made for this characteristic.
  2. The planning method Enter Planning Data is relevant to the three sales employees. Only the parameter set Enter Sales Plan is created for this method since the same parameters apply to all three employees. For example, they should all use the same planning layout.
  3. To provide each sales employee with just the elements that are relevant to that sales organization, the following three personalization profiles are created:
  1. The personalization profiles are then entered into the user parameters for the individual sales employees. In this way, when the employee for the sales organization SouthWest, for example, calls up planning, the system only displays the planning package OrgSW and the parameter set Enter Sales Plan.
