The general concept for Users and Authorizations applies in Profitability Analysis. You can also use the Profile Generator to create a role in which you combine transactions, reports, and web addresses in a menu. The Profile Generator automatically makes authorization objects available with which you specify the specific authorizations. From the Profile Generator, you can then generate an authorization profile and assign users. When the users you assign logon, the menu for their role appears. They are authorized to perform all the functions contained in that menu.

You can access the Profile Generator in CO-PA Customizing by choosing Tools ® Authorization Management ® Create Role/Profile and Assign Users.

Alongside having the system generate authorization profiles automatically, you can also create authorization profiles manually when you are in general administration for the SAP System. However, since this procedure requires you to be familiar with all the SAP authorization components, it is recommended that you use the profile generator.

The individual authorization profiles delivered by SAP are already complete upon delivery. The authorization profile K_RKE_ALL in the delivery system contains all the authorization objects for Profitability Analysis.

The authorization profiles delivered by SAP or those you have created manually can be used in roles. To do this, you first access Authorization Maintenance of the Profile Generator (by choosing Maintain authorization data and generate profiles) and then you need to transfer the data (by choosing Edit ® Insert ® Authorization ® From profile).

The authorization objects in all the cases described above are delivered by SAP. In addition, you can create authorization objects specific to Profitability Analysis for combinations of characteristics and key figures. These protect specific key figures, profitability segments (groups of characteristics) and combinations of these from unauthorized access in planning and the information system. You can create these authorization objects in CO-PA Customizing by choosing Tools ® Authorization Management ® CO-PA-Specific Authorization Objects.
