SAPscript Changes: Graphic Management (SE78) and Barcodes

Scope of Functions

SAPscript Graphic Management

You can import, manage, transport and preview the print format of graphics with SAPscript Graphic Management (transaction SE78).

You can go to all imported graphics in the navigation tree. Before Release 4.6, the texts were saved as standard texts. This store is obsolete. From Release 4.6, the graphics are saved on a document server. *.BMP files can now be imported as well as *.TIF files.

You must choose a node in the navigation tree and enter the graphic name and attributes before you can perform other functions. You can search for graphics in the F4 help. To import graphics choose import.

A document server, with language and client independent store, performs the central graphic management which saves graphics in a structured store from which they can be fetched. A preview function provides a quick overview of the stored graphics. It can show new Release 4.6A graphics and previously existing graphics.

A considerable performance improvement is achieved by keeping the graphics in the printer memory, considerably reducing the data flow to the printer. You can choose this when you upload the graphic (attribute: Resident in printer memory). This is only advantageous if the same graphic occurs more than once in a spooler request.

Choose Edit -> Graphic -> Create in the graphical Form Painter (SE71). You can either enter an existing graphic name in the following dialog box or import a file as a graphic from a local PC. The window with the graphic is created and you can position it in the design window. You cannot change the size of the graphic in the design window.

Turning Barcodes

Barcodes can now be turned. Set this attribute for system barcodes (transaction SE73, System barcodes -> Change). They are turned in anticlockwise 90° steps. Turning through 90° prints the barcode sideways. The barcode should be in its own window in forms, e.g.at the bottom left-hand corner of the form.
