Roles in
Quality Management
Use
A role is a collection of business-related
activities that a user can use to interact with the business processes in a
company. It is important to distinguish between composite roles and single
roles.
- The composite roles specify the business
activities and areas of responsibility in QM.
- The single roles in QM serve as a business and
function-related source for the composite roles. The single roles therefore
define the activities that the owner of a composite role can
execute.
You access the functions for the single roles
by means of user menus.
The mySAP.com Workplace provides the user with
a role-based portal over a web browser, with which he or she can carry out his
or her job tasks. The following QM composite roles are available in the
mySAP.com Workplace (Build 6):
A single role contains an authorization
profile. All single role names in QM begin with 'SAP_QM'. For example, the
single role 'SAP_QM_IM_RES_REC' contains the basic functions for results
recording. This role as well as other single roles are assigned to the
composite role "Quality Inspector."
In addition to the single roles for grouping
the activities for the specified composite roles, the following roles also
exist:
- A single role for adminstrating the QM
system
- A single role for the Quality Manager in goods
receipt
- A single role for the Quality Manager in
production
- A single role for quality evaluations
(QMIS)
The single roles for evaluations in the
Business Information Warehouse have been created in the corresponding BW
System.
You can copy and/or change the SAP-supplied
composite and single roles, and adapt them to your own special
needs.
Effects on
Existing Data
The term "role" replaces the previously used
designation "activity group." The previously existing composite activity
groups in QM have partially been integrated into the above-mentioned composite
roles:
SAP_QM_CERTIFICATE: A person responsible for
the quality certificates.
- The activities in this activity group have
been integrated in the single roles SAP_QM_CA_INCOMING_CERT (certificate
receipt processing), SAP_QM_CA_OUTCERT_MAINT (administration of certificate
master data), and SAP_QM_CA_OUTGOINT_CERT (certificate creation in SD) and
assigned to the composite roles "Inspection Planner" and "Quality
Inspector."
SAP_QM_EQUIPMENTMANAGER
- The activities in this activity group have
been integrated in the single roles beginning with SAP_ QM_IT (for example,
SAP_QM_IT_CALIB_PLANNING) and assigned to the composite role "Test Equipment
Manager."
SAP_QM_INSPECTIONMANAGER
- These activities have been integrated in the
single roles for "Quality Manager."
SAP_QM_INSPECTIONPLANNER
- These activities have been integrated in the
single roles for "Inspection Planner."
SAP_QM_PROBLEMAUTHOR
- The activities for creating quality
notifications have been integrated in various single roles beginning with
SAP_QM_QN and assigned to the "Notification Processor."
SAP_QM_PROBLEMPROCESSOR
- The activities for processing quality
notifications have been integrated in various single roles beginning with
SAP_QM_QN (for example, SAP_QM_QN_NOTIF_DISPLAY - Display quality
notifications) and assigned to the "Notification Processor."
SAP_QM_QUALITYANALYST
- The composite activity group "Quality Analyst"
has been divided into single roles and assigned to those composite roles,
where analyses are a part of an owner's job tasks (for example, as with the
Quality Manager).
SAP_QM_QUALITYENGINEER
- This composite activity group has been
integrated into the single roles of the composite role "Quality
Planner."
SAP_QM_QUALITYINSPECTOR
- This composite activity group has been
integrated into the single roles of the composite role "Quality
Inspector."
SAP_QM_SUPPORT_LINE_LEVEL1
- This composite activity group has been
integrated into the single role SAP_SV_FDB_SUPPORT_LINE_LEVEL1.
SAP_QM_SUPPORT_LINE_LEVEL2
- This composite activity group has been
integrated into the single role SAP_SV_FDB_SUPPORT_LINE_LEVEL2.

Key figures and other relevant information for
a role are displayed in Miniapps contained in the Workplace. Roles are also
assigned to MiniApps. The description of the MiniApps in QM (for example, a
notification monitor) are contained in the release note
Mini Apps in Quality Management.
