QM Overview - Release 4.6C 

Use

This release note provides an overview of the main development activities in QM - Quality Management for Release 4.6C.

The development activities in this release were primarily focused on the mySAP.com Workplace. In particular, these tasks included the creation of new user roles in QM, MiniApps, Internet scenarios, pervasive computing activities, and drag & relate functions.
As a continuation of the Enjoy initiative, these new developments will provide end users in QM with more streamlined and easier to use functions.

Internet Services

Another important aspect of our development activities included adapting the functions of QM to the needs of e-business.
With Release 4.6C, for example, you can record inspection results over the Internet. A typical scenario might involve a source inspection by a vendor, in which the inspection results are recorded directly over the Internet.
With another
Internet Service, you can allow your customers to retrieve quality certificates for deliveries over the Internet.
As of Release 4.6C, you can also transmit the quality certificate with its formatted data electronically and thereby automatically transfer the inspection results from a certificate to an inspection lot.

The quality notifications are especially suited for recording and processing activities over the Internet. Using the new " General Notifications ," a number of new possibilities exist for using the notifications. The new transactions for simplified notification processing have been developed for this purpose.

User Roles

The following new user roles have been defined for the mySAP.com Workplace:

• Quality Manager

• Quality Planner

• Inspection Planner

• Quality Inspector

• Notification Processor

• Test Equipment Manager

MiniApps

"MiniApp" is the designation for a "mini application," which consists of a "small" or simplified application. It is an element in the mysap.com Workplace that places important information or functions at your disposal when you call up the Workplace.

In Release 4.6C, the system contains the following MiniApps:

• Overview of quality notifications / general notifications

• Overview of tasks for quality notifications / general notifications

• Overview of inspection lots

• Overview of violated action limits in quality control charts

Drag&Relate

Drag&Relate consists of a simplified, browser-based method of navigating with which, for example, you can "drag" an object to a target transaction and cause the target transaction to automatically start and call up the object data.

In Release 4.6C, the following QM objects are supported by Drag&Relate:

Physical sample, inspection lot, quality notification, quality certificate, inspection method, master inspection characteristic, code group, selected set

New Features for Quality Planning

• Integration of QM master data (for example, inspection plan and material specification) in the Product Structure Browser

• ALE distribution of inspection methods, master inspection characteristics, and code groups

• Direct input for inspection plans, routings, reference operation sets

• Preplanned origin of results data

New Features for Quality Inspection

• Results recording on the Internet
  Using a worklist, you can select inspection lots and record inspection results for all operations. You can record summarized inspection results, single results, and inspection descriptions.

• Mobile Results Recording

• QM support for Handling Unit Management

New Features in Quality Control

• Enhancements in the results history

• Checking quality control charts according to Western Electric Rules (Run, Trend)

New Features for Quality Certificates

• Quality certificates for deliveries on the Internet

• Transmitting formatted inspection results over the Internet

New Features for Quality Notifications

• General notification

• Creating notifications on the Intranet

• Transactions for processing simplified notifications

• Transactions for processing tasks

• Cross-Application worklists

• New follow-up function "Permission to Deviate from Specification"

• New follow-up function "Send 8D Report to Customer"

• Approval requirement for notifications
