Define Movement
Types
The SAP R/3 System uses
movement types to process movements in Inventory Management (for
example, goods receipt for a purchase order or goods issue to a cost center).
When the system recognizes a movement as being relevant for Warehouse
Management, it assigns this movement to a WM movement type by means of a
table.
The movement type for the Warehouse Management
System provides the information required for stock removals or
picking:
- Control indicator for processing,
confirming, and printing transfer orders
At the movement type
level, you define whether the confirmation requirement is to be proposed
during transfer order creation. As soon as a parameter demands the
confirmation requirement in a TO item, this item must be confirmed explicitly
in the application.
Standard
Settings
All relevant movement types are preset in the
SAP Standard System.
Recommendation
SAP recommends that you keep movement type
"601".
Activities
1. Before you
create the movement type for a new warehouse number
- Configure the settings for print
control
- Maintain the print code when you set the print
control
2. For each
warehouse number, create the movement type by copying it.
3. Decide
whether you want to verify the transfer orders created in the SAP system
through the confirmation procedure.
4. Make
company-specific modifications in the detailed screen where
required.
5. Include the
possible processes for verification/confirmation in your organizational
procedures. You can use the bar code for confirming the transfer
orders.
