Definition
Frame in which all configurations of a product or project throughout all the phases of a life cycle are cumulated.
Use
If you have an idea for a new product or project that you want to control with Configuration Management, first create a configuration definition.
When creating, choose a
life cycle profile that is defined in Customizing. The permitted life cycle phases and phase transitions are determined. In the course of time, you create configuration folders and, if necessary, Baselines in these life cycle phases.A configuration definition can be described as a bracket, which incorporates all configuration folders and Baselines for a particular product. Using the description of the configuration folder, you can easily comprehend the genesis of the product.
