Engineering change management: Changing the
valid-from date
Description
For Release 3.0, the range of functions for changing the valid-from date of
a change to an object (such as a bill of material) has been extended.
The following two functions are new: Date shift and
Allocation to alternative date.
- Using the date shift function, you can shift the valid-from date of a
change master record even if changes to objects exist already. Previously,
this function was not possible if task list changes existed. This restriction
now no longer exists.
The system checks whether a date shift is possible and calculates the new
valid-to date for all change objects.
- If the sequence of the validity periods changes because of the date
change, you get a warning message.
- A date shift cannot be carried out if it would cause inconsistencies in
the change object.
- For individual change objects, you can replace the general valid-from date
from the change header with a specific valid-from date. To do this, you enter
alternative dates for a change number and allocate them to one or several
change objects. This allows you to control changes per object.
The following requirements exist for this function:
- An object management record must exist for the change object.
- The change object must be consistent.
Since management records cannot be created for all change objects, this
function is not currently supported for all change objects. This applies to
the following change objects:
