Enhanced Adjustments Processing with the Adjustments Workbench

Use

To simplify adjustments processing, the General Adjustment Workbench and the Year-End Adjustment Workbench have been merged together to form the Adjustments Workbench.

The Adjustments Workbench

Previously, users had to use the General Adjustments Workbench to make general adjustments (with subtypes GANA and GAWA) and the Year-End Adjustments Workbench to make year-end adjustments (with subtypes YANA and YAWA). This is no longer necessary.

You can now make adjustments through the Adjustments Workbench at any time during the year. This is because subtypes YANA and YAWA have been extended to incorporate the functionality of subtypes GAWA and GANA . Subtypes GAWA and GANA are therefore now display-only subtypes.

Special adjustment runs

Schema KAD0 is no longer necessary for segregating special adjustments from retroactive adjustments. Adjustments that bypass normal retroactive payroll processing are now picked up with the normal payroll schema (although they must still be executed from the Adjustments Workbench). Schema KAD0 is therefore no longer available.

When executing a special adjustment run, the adjustment run date you specify must match the adjustment date entered on the Infotype 0221 subtype.

Effects on Existing Data

These changes do not affect any exiting adjustments you may have. If you have any outstanding GANA or GAWA adjustments, they will still be picked up in special adjustment runs.

Effects on Customizing

A new chapter and four new activities were added to the Payroll Canada Implementation Guide (IMG) to facilitate making adjustments with the Adjustments Workbench and Infotype 0221.
