Conversion of
Payroll Results for Out-of-Sequence Check Processing
Use
From Release 4.6C forward, out-of-sequence
check processing is supported by the standard system. The activities described
in this release note are required to enable this new functionality. We
recommend that you first read the release note on
out-of-sequence check processing before reviewing the present
release note.
If you are upgrading to Release 4.6C from a
prior release level, then certain prerequisites must be fulfilled before you
may begin to process out-of-sequence checks.
1. If your
enterprise is upgrading to Release 4.6C from Release 3.1I or lower, then you
must run two conversion programs.
a) First, you
must execute XPRA conversion program RPU40ACD to render the
payroll result directory (cluster CU, used both in Canada and
the United States) compatible with Release 4.6C. This program must run
successfully for all employee numbers before you may proceed.
To this end, select System -> Services
-> Reporting, then execute program
RPU40ACD.
a) Secondly,
XPRA conversion program RPU40ACL must be run successfully for
all payroll results in cluster RK (in Canada) or cluster
RU (in the United States).
1. You must
execute the Implementation Guide steps described below.
For additional information, see Effects on
Customizing.
2. If your
enterprise is upgrading to Release 4.6C from any prior release level, then you
must convert existing payroll results within cluster RK or cluster RU of table
PCL2 before you may begin to process out-of-sequence checks.
To this end, you must execute conversion program
H99U_CONVERSION_46C . If the size of table PCL2 in your system is
relatively small (100,000 or fewer records), you may execute the program
directly. However, for larger databases, we strongly recommend that you divide
the run of program H99U_CONVERSION_46C into several parallel jobs by means of
an alternative program,
H99U_CONVERSION_SCHEDULER.
Effects on
Existing Data
To reduce the size of table PCL2 and to keep
the total run time of the conversion to a minimum, we strongly recommend that
you archive past payroll results if a large number of records are already
stored within PCL2.
Since additional fields have been assigned to
cumulation tables CRT, TCRT, and UTIPS, the conversion, upon completion, will
increase the total amount of data stored in PCL2. The percentage of the
increase will vary from system to system, depending upon the number of wage
types stored in table TCRT.
Effects on
Customizing
As stated in the release note on
out-of-sequence check processing, you must perform the following two steps in
the Payroll Implementation Guide (IMG) before you may process out-of-sequence
checks for the first time.
- Cumulations ->
Company-Specific Cumulation
-> Define cumulation intervals
- Cumulations
-> Generate cumulation intervals
For detailed information on the new
configuration tables that enable out-of-sequence check processing, refer to
the release note on
new Data Dictionary cumulation tables .
