Innovations in format conversion between SAPscript and external texts.

Description

General

SAPscript texts are stored in Interchange Text Format (ITF). For the interface to other word processors SAPscript offers conversion programs for the text file formats Rich Text Format (RTF) and ASCII.

RTF files comprise all the formating information formation of the text and can be both interpreted and generated by all common word processors. The format conversion offers the possibility of assigning and renaming paragraph formats and character formats to source and target text in the conversion of formatted texts.

Innovation

In the Releases 2.1 and 2.2 the format conversion was still controlled via the tables TTDCF and TTDCW. Now there is a specific transaction "Format conversion" available. You will find this transaction as a menu option everywhere in the word processing environment.

Procedure for removing dataset errors

If you have already worked with the conversion of RTF files to SAPscript texts and vice versa or if you have worked with format conversion between SAPscript texts in the Releases 2.1 and 2.2, you now need to adapt to the new Release 3.0 procedure. Start the report RSTXDUMS. This report puts all old conversions into the new form, so that they can now be processed with the transaction SE74 (Format conversion) and the conversion program.
