Report Writer: New Functions for Release
3.0A
Description
For Release 3.0A, the following functions have been developed in the Report
Writer:
- Report Painter: New user interface for defining reports
->
- New maintenance of headers and footers, title page and last
page
->
- Calculating cells for more than one block
->
- Sending reports by Mail (SAPoffice)
->
- Formatted output to MS Excel
->
- Additional texts for row blocks
->
- Authorization check during selection in the FI-SL application
(Special Purpose Ledger)
->
- Cross-application reporting terminology
->
- Cross-table usage of groups (hierarchies)
->
- Inserting of "All values" lines in sets
->
- Collecting messages in the report output
- If more than one message is output when a report is executed, all messages
are collected. In this case, the system issues a message informing you that
several messages have been output. You can display these messages using the
function 'Extras' -> 'Messages...'.
- The selection log now also prints the current settings that were entered
on the selection screen when the report group was executed.
- Enhancements in formula processing
- Linear formulas now use the unit of the operands if the unit is unique.
This applies to both currency units and units of measure. Linear formulas are
those in which only additions and subtractions are made.
- You can now use Boolean logic statements in formulas in sets. Example:
IF <001> > <002> THEN <002> ELSE <001>
- Formula lines were previously always printed with summation level 0. With
Release 3.0, formula lines are automatically assigned a summation level. The
value is calculated from the maximum summation level of the lines used in the
formula plus 1.
- Detail lines always at summation level 0
- In previous releases, summation levels were always numbered hierarchically
from top to bottom. As a result, this meant that for hierarchies with subtrees
at different levels, the detail level rows were assigned a summation level
greater than 0, if they were assigned to a subtree at a lower level. As of
now, detail lines always have summation level 0.
- Functions 'Expand' and 'Collapse' in report rows
- When you select the function 'Collapse' on totals lines, all report rows
of the hierarchies below the selected totals lines are hidden. The function
'Expand' restores the report rows level by level. If you choose the function
'Expand' on a detail row (summation level 0), the system directly calls up a
report. If you position the cursor in the lead column, the entire detail row
is automatically selected for the report call, otherwise, only the
corresponding cell is selected.
Both functions can also be activated by double-clicking on the respective
report row. Depending on the status of the row, either the function 'Expand'
or the function 'Collapse' is performed.
- In previous releases, the function 'Select' for the report call was
activated by double-clicking. This function can now only be accessed via the
menu or using pushbuttons.
- The functions 'Expand all' and 'Collapse all' are also available in the
menu. The function 'Expand all' displays all report rows which were hidden
using the collapse function or by restricting the summation levels. The
function 'Collapse all' collapses each row block to the highest summation
level.
- The four new functions can be found in the submenu 'Hierarchy' of the menu
option 'View'.
- Input support on selection screens
- You can now use matchcodes when entering values on the selection screen
when you execute a report group. For entering sets or groups (for example,
cost center groups), a possible entries pushbutton has been implemented.
- You can now change the column widths in a report output using the
'Settings' -> 'Column widths'. A pop-up window appears in which you can
enter the width of the lead column and the report columns.
- Printing a report definition
- In the report definition, you can print the complete definition of a
report using the function 'Utilities' -> 'List definition'.
- Setting export parameters
- In report maintenance, you can define default values for the export
parameters on the 'Header' screen. These values are defaulted if you export a
report in the report output.
- If you export a report to the presentation server (download), the title
page and the report data were exported in previous releases. The headers were
not exported. You can now define a special text that is exported instead of
the title page.
- Symbol for undefined values
- Undefined values occur in a report, for example, when values with
different units are totaled. In previous releases, blanks were printed instead
of a value. It is now possible to print a symbol instead. In the layout
parameters, you can choose between the 'Blank' and 'Symbol' options on the
'Representation' screen.
- Displaying negative values without the - sign
- In addition to the already existing formatting options, the format
'Without sign' is also now available to you when displaying negative values in
the report output. You can choose the format of your choice for displaying
negative values in layout parameters on the screen, 'Representation'.
