Demand Management: Automatic Splitting of Reference Requirements

Description

For planned independent requirements that were created with the help of a reference (for example, the forecast, SOP), you can determine that the total quantity is to be distributed automatically when copied according to a specific period split. You enter this period split in Customizing per reference type. If you have maintained a split in Customizing for a reference, then every time that a reference independent requirement is copied, schedule lines are created using this period split. Here, only the planned independent requirements that were created in monthly, weekly, or posting periods are split.

The period split is determined according to the following logic:

Irrespective of the period split used to create the reference requirement, two further intervals are determined for the split. The first interval determines the number of weeks that are to be split according to days. The second interval determines the number of months that are to be split according to weeks.

The system splits the reference independent requirements as follows:

If a reference requirements is created in months, the system first splits the number of weeks defined in the first column into daily quantities. Then the number of months that are entered in the second column are split into weekly quantities.

Here, note the following: if one month contains five weeks and if the period split is set as follows: week one, split into daily quantities, weeks two, three and four, split into weekly quantities, then the system also displays the requirements in week five as a weekly quantity. That is, the total quantity of the month is divided by five weeks.

If a reference requirement is created in weeks which is to be copied using the automatic splitting procedures, then only the first column is read to split the number of weeks entered here into daily requirements. The second column is ignored.
