As of this release, you can specify batches directly in an inbound delivery. You can maintain classification attributes, run a shelf-life expiration check, and create batch master records for materials that must be handled in batches in an inbound delivery.
You can select a delivery item in the inbound delivery and use the Batch creation button to make entries in the batch number, production date or minimum expiration date fields. You need the production date if you have stored a total shelf life in the material master for the material that must be handled in batches. The system can use this date (production date or expiration date) to determine the remaining shelf life for the batch. If the minimum remaining shelf life is zero (or if the shelf life has been exceeded), the system issues a warning.
Depending on the settings you make in Customizing (described below), either the system assigns an internal batch number to the delivery item, or you enter an external batch number in the batch field. When you save the inbound delivery, the batch master records and expiration date (or classification data) are written to the database.
If you want to use batch creation in inbound deliveries, you must make the following settings in the Implementation Guide (IMG) for Logistics Execution and Batch Management:
define batch creation controls activity to set the form of batch
creation you want to implement for each delivery item category.
define batch creation for goods movements activity to define for
each movement type whether a new batch should be created at goods receipt. If
so, define the method of creation.
set
expiration date check activity to set the shelf-life expiration
check for materials during goods receipt for each plant and movement
type.
activate batch classification for goods movements to define for
each movement type whether batches should be classified when goods movements
are carried out.
