Setting Up Manual Entry of Planning Data

Use

You set up the manual entry of planning data by creating a parameter set for the Enter planning data or Display planning data planning method. This parameter set contains the settings for executing the respective planning method.

Features

For the planning method Enter planning data, you can make all of the following settings in the parameter set. Only some of these settings are relevant for the planning method Display planning data. Only relevant settings are offered in the parameter set.

The Planning Layout is used for entering and for displaying planning data. You define the layout that is to be used for entering or displaying data. You can select a planning layout that has been defined manually in Customizing (provided that the characteristics in the layout match those in the planning level). Alternatively, you can choose for a planning layout to be generated automatically.

As a rule, you should generate a planning layout from parameter set maintenance or use a planning layout that has already been generated for the planning level you are working with. This ensures that the planning level and the planning layout are compatible. You should only define planning layouts with complicated structures manually in Customizing. This applies, for example, to planning layouts where different characteristics are to appear in the rows of its lead column (which must therefore be a complex lead column). For more information about Customizing for planning layouts, see Defining a Planning Layout.

Planning layouts are generated as follows:

    1. You can choose from the characteristics listed in the tab page Characteristics. These characteristics are the ones contained in the planning level. For each characteristic, decide whether it should be placed at the head of the layout or whether it should instead be unlocked for entries and serve as a lead column. You must use the following specifications:
    1. You choose from the list of value fields for the operating concern in the tab page Value fields. Select from this list the value fields to be used in planning.
    2. If you want to include other functions in the planning layout, such as ratios or an additional column displaying actual values from the previous year, choose to change to planning layout maintenance in Customizing. In the maintenance screen, you can make the corresponding settings in the planning layout that has been generated.

This is where you can specify for manual planning an entry currency that differs from that used in Profitability Analysis. The entry currency simply serves as an entry aid and is translated into the database currency (which is either the operating concern currency or the company code currency) before being transferred to the database.

As before, this is where you can enter a distribution profile for top-down planning. For detailed information on top-down planning, see the section Transaction-Based Top-Down Distribution.

You can also choose to activate automatic valuation or zero suppression (not having objects displayed if all their value fields contain a zero).

Only the settings for the entry currency and for zero suppression are relevant for the planning method Display planning data (the entry currency serving as the display currency in this case).

This is where you can store standard distribution keys for currencies and quantities to be applied when new objects are entered. In each case, the system proposes the distribution key "2" (distribution as before).

If you use object-related distribution keys, you can enter an access key as an alternative to the standard distribution keys.

In Customizing for Profitability Analysis, you can define a standard distribution key as well as a segment-specific distribution key. You do this under Planning ® Planning Aids ® Distribution Key for Periodic Distribution.

Here you can activate Microsoft Excel as the interface for entering or displaying planning data. For more detailed information, see the section Integrated Excel in Planning.

By choosing , you can access the maintenance transaction for the selected parameters and display detailed information about the corresponding object. From there, you can switch to the change mode to change the object or to create a new one.
