Material Staging using Deliveries

Use

As an alternative to transfer requirements, you can also use deliveries to perform material staging of pick parts to production.

When you supply pick parts to production using deliveries, as with transfer requirement, the quantities can be delivered directly for the corresponding production order. However, when you confirm the transfer order to verify that the raw materials have been moved to the production supply area, depending on the settings in customizing, the system sets the status in the delivery to "fully delivered". Because of this, there is no need for further action in WM.

Prior to this release, you could only supply materials to production by creating transfer requirements. Afterwards, as an additional step, it was necessary to post a goods issue for material usage to balance the stock quantities in IM and WM.

Now, both of these methods are available. You can determine which method the system will use based on settings in Customizing .

Limitation

Currently, material staging using deliveries can only be carried out for Staging indicator "1" (pick parts).

Effects on Customizing

In Customizing under Define production you control whether material staging should be carried out using transfer requirements or deliveries.

For material staging using deliveries, you must also include the Delivery type and the Ship-to party (the party who is to receive delivery of the goods) in this table. In the standard system, you can use WMPP as the delivery type for this function. For the raw material that is to be staged, you also need to maintain the Sales view in the material master record. Also, you need to maintain the General item category group in the Basic data view. For this entry, you can use WMPP in the standard system.
