Integration of Automatic Planning Functions in the Planning Interface

Use

A new interface - the planning interface - was created in Release 46A as the structure for manual planning using planning levels and planning packages. With Release 46C, all the functions previously available with the automatic planning functions are now integrated into this concept. There are now twelve planning methods available via the planning interface:

An administration function provides an overview of planning methods performed within an operating concern.

It is also possible to execute the new automatic planning methods in the background.

Effects on System Administration

Customizing and usage are performed using the same transaction.

The access that Customizing users and end users have to the functions can be restricted by means of authorizations.

Effects on Customizing

In the new planning environment, it is not possible to use your old Customizing settings for the automatic planning functions. The settings are now performed in different elements.

The market segment to be planned for is determined by the creation of planning levels and planning packages. In the next step, you maintain the parameters with which the relevant end users should perform the planning methods. Furthermore, you can maintain personalization profiles to limit the selection of market segments and to restrict the use of functions to specific users.
