Copying Variables from a Client 

Prerequisites

You can only use this function if you are copying variables from/to clients that exist in the same system. If the variables you want to copy are stored in a different system than the one to which you want to copy, you must use the export and import functions.

Procedure

  1. On the Create/Display/Change/Delete Variable: Initial Screens, choose Utilities ® Transport ® Copy from client.

    2. The Copy Variables From Source Client screen appears.

  2. Enter the source client, the variable(s) that you want to copy, and additional selection criteria, as required.

    3. The data you enter determines the data that is copied from the source client to the client in which you are working.

  3. Set the indicators in the Further details group box, as required:

    4. – If you select Copy without selection list, the variables are exported immediately.

    – If you select Copy with dependent objects, the variables are copied with their dependent objects.

    Beginning with Release 3.1G, CO groups (such as cost center groups, cost element groups, profit center groups, and so on) are no longer transported as dependent objects. For example, if you are copying a set variable that uses a CO group as the default set, the CO group is not copied to the target client. If you want to copy CO groups to another client, you do so in a separate step using the set or hierarchy maintenance functions.

  4. Choose Program ® Execute.

If you selected Copy without selection list, the system automatically copies the variables from the source client to the client in which you are working, according to the criteria you entered on the Copy Variables From Source Client screen.

If you did not select Copy without selection list, the system lists all variables from the source client that meet the criteria you entered on the Copy Variables From Source Client screen:
    1. Select the variable(s) that you want to copy.
    2. Choose Variables ® Copy.

The system copies the variable(s) to the client in which you are working.
