1. On the Report Painter screen, choose Report Writer ® Variable ® Create.

The Create Variable: Initial Screen appears.

2. Enter the following data:

– Variable name

– Table name for the variable

– Field name for the variable

This field name refers to the dimension that the variable uses.

3. Select the variable type by setting one of the indicators in the Variable type group box.
4. If you want to create the variable by copying data from an existing variable, enter the name of the variable from which you want to copy data in the Copy from - Variable field.

The variable must have the same field name as the variable you are creating.

5. Choose Basic data.
