Deleting Master Data

Use

When you are no longer using a master file value, you can delete it.

Use caution when deleting dimension information since you may be deleting values that affect existing data in your summary database. When you "delete" master file values, values are only inactivated and can be reactivated at a later time.

Procedure

To delete master file values:

  1. Choose Accounting ® Financial accounting ® Spec. Purpose Ledger, then Environment ® Integr. master data ® Flag for deletion.
  2. The Delete Master Data: Initial Screen appears.

  3. Enter the following data:
  4. – Table name for the dimension information that you want to delete.

    – Database field name to which the master data refers.

    – First master file value that you want to delete.

    – Last value in the range of values that you want to delete.

  5. Choose Enter.
  6. A dialog box appears.

  7. Enter the name of the local/global company that uses the master file values.
  8. If the master file values are for all companies, leave this field blank.

  9. Choose Enter.
  10. The Delete Master Data: Basic Screen appears.

  11. Move the cursor to the master file value that you want to delete and choose Edit ® Deletion mark.
  12. The message * * deleted * * appears next to the master file value.

The value is flagged by the system and is no longer valid. To reinstate a value that is flagged for deletion, see Reinstating a Deleted Master File Value

  13. To save your changes, choose Master data ® Save.

Result

You have deleted the chosen master data value. The value is flagged by the system and is no longer valid.

To reinstate a value that is flagged for deletion, see in Reactivating Master Data That is Flagged for Deletion.
