FI-SL Functionality: Planning

SAP's planning module allows you to enter plan data easily at whatever detail level you desire. In the FI-SL System, planning is the entry, distribution, and posting of planning data. The data you enter can then be accessed by the Report Writer to create budgets, forecasts, and other reports that use plan data.

You can use various planning functions to enter and maintain plans. These functions include:

Using the copy functions, you can use plan or actual data from previous years as a basis for future planning, as well as to reevaluate the plan data.

Within a plan, you can also define different plan versions. There is no practical limit to the number of plan versions you can create.

You use sets in planning. With sets, you can use a set hierarchy to define the entry format of planning data and how planning data is posted.

Planned amounts and quantities are stored as separate records on the database. Therefore, planning data can exist at a different detail level than the actual transaction data - without wasting system storage space.

You define plans using the Planning function. For more information, see Planning: Introduction .
