Changes in Currency Translation
Description
As of Release 3.0, currency translations can be carried out via a reference currency, that is, all exchange rates must only be maintained with respect to this reference currency.
- So far, at least one exchange rate had to be entered for each used
currency pair (From-currency --> To-currency). For Release 3.0A, you can
now define a reference currency per exchange rate type for the translation.
Then the translation is carried out via the exchange rates
From-currency --> Reference currency and
To-currency --> Reference currency
It is thus possible to maintain only the exchange rates to or from the reference currency per foreign currency used.
- Until now, it was necessary to enter the factors for the translation per exchange rate. For Release 3.0A, you must enter the factors per exchange rate type and currency pair only once. When maintaining the exchange rates, the entered factors are only displayed.
Change system parameters in customizing
- If you want to use the translation via reference currency, specify this
for each exchange rate type. You reach the maintenance functions via the step
"Check exchange rate types" under "Global settings" in
the Implementation Guide.
- You define the exchange ratios per exchange rate type and currency pair in
the Financial Accounting Implementation Guide via
"Define exchange ratios for currency translation" under "Global
settings".
- The maintenance of translation rates has also changed. You do this via
"Enter translation rates" under "Global settings" in the
Implementation Guide.
