Production Control with KANBAN

Purpose

In this process, you are introduced to three different replenishment strategies (schedule lines, run schedule quantity, and purchase order). There are three procedures (kanban board, manual kanban signal, and quantity signal) that create the kanban signal, which in turn initiates the replenishment function. The initiating kanban signal is not connected to the various replenishment strategies and can be changed for individual examples. Goods receipt is posted through the kanban board or, depending upon the replenishment strategy, using materials management, that is, the kanban confirmation. The kanban materials are assigned to a bill of material, which is confirmed via the goods receipt message in repetitive manufacturing. Backflushing the components updates the stocks of the kanban materials.
