WM: Warehouse Control Unit Interface to the Warehouse Management System

Description

Beginning with Release 3.0, a bidirectional data exchange interface has been provided for warehouse control units connected to the SAP Warehouse Management system. This technology is based on asynchronous Remote Function Call and significantly simplifies the CPIC processing that was used previously. Systems already using the CPIC interface are not affected by this change.

The following functions are supported:

This interface cannot be used for connecting highly optimized warehouse control systems that require near-real-time reactions from the SAP system.

Damage caused to data by errors

Data is placed into a buffer when it is transmitted (asynchronous transmission) and the processing status is updated. If an error should occur, you receive a mail message with a corresponding error notification. From the mail notification, it is possible for you to repost the corrected data to the database.

Software/hardware requirements

You need the component WM-LSR. This contains a library of C-Programs that make the technical connection possible.

You must create a program, that receives and transmits data in IDOC (intermediate document) format (that is, that places data received into a data base and passes it to the warehouse control unit).

We recommend that you contact SAP for a list of certified firms for this interface.

Technically, data is brought into the SAP system in the form of tables via asynchronous REMOTE FUNCTION CALL from a central SAP function module. The data is stored as IDOCs and initiates processing asynchronously.

Changes to the interface

To monitor processes and analyze errors select Environment -> Subsystems -> Evaluations from the Warehouse Management system main menu bar.
