Bill of Material Transfer
Scope of Functions
The bill of material (BOM) transfer functions have been improved and enhanced in Release 4.6A as follows:
You can now create profiles for BOM transfer in Customizing and store
combinations of control parameters and selction criteria in these profiles.
On the BOM Transfer initial screen, you can enter one of these
profiles. You can however change the settings before executing BOM transfer.
In both the network activity and the BOM item, there is a separate Reference point
field, which you can use to create the logical connection between network activities and BOM items.
Consequently, you now longer have to define fields in activities and
BOM items as reference points. However, if you have already defined
fields as reference points, the system ignores the new Reference point
field. To use the new field, you must delete the definition of other fields as reference points in Customizing.
You can only enter values in the new Reference point field that
have been defined in Customizing. Therefore you must define reference points in Customizing.
You can now select the activities to which BOM items should be assigned from a network or a range of networks.
- BOM Transfer from the Order Browser
You can now start BOM transfer from the order browser. If you enter the
order browser with an assembly, the system knows the position of this
assembly in the bill of material. This is not the case with normal BOM transfer.
Using this information, the system can identify the characteristic assignment and quantity
for the assembly in the case of multi-level configuration too.
Effects on Customizing
The following IMG modules have been added to Customizing of the Project System under
Material -> Bill of Material Transfer
- Define Profiles for Bill of Material Transfer
- Define Reference Points for BOM Transfer
- Define Fields in BOM and Activity as Reference Point
You use this last module to delete the definition of other fields as reference points (see Reference Point).
