Plant Data Collection is a cross-application function, which enables you to confirm networks in external systems and then transfer the data via a PDC data transfer to the R/3 System.

When you confirm in external systems, you use several Project System functions

You must make the relevant setting in Customizing for transferring data from the R/3-System to an external system (Download) and from the external system to R/3 (Upload). For example, you must determine which data is to be transferred and how often the data should be transferred.

You can trigger the transfer of PDC data from an external system to the R/3 System either automatically, or manually by choosing Logistics/Accounting ® Project System ® Progress ® Confirmation ® PDC interface ® Upload request.

Transfer is via the PDC interface and runs in the background. If the system finds errors in the confirmation data after the transfer, the incorrect confirmation is written to a PDC error record. You must reprocess PDC error records.
