Cost Analysis -
New Reporting Technique In Product Cost Controlling 
Use
In the CO-PC-IS information system in Release 4.6C, the Report Writer has been largely replaced by cost analysis based on the ABAP List Viewer. This new, lean and interactive tool simplifies on-screen data analysis. The reports created with the Report Writer have been replaced by layouts, which you can switch between interactively. You can also create your own layouts from the field list. These layouts can be user-specific or system-wide.
In addition to the standard features of the
ABAP List Viewer, cost analysis provides the following additional functions:
- Interactive adjustment of the reporting time frame
- Selection of currency type and valuation
- Interactive version selection (target cost version, plan version, etc.)
- Interactive selection of the value reference (absolute values or values per unit)
Cost analysis is used as a detailed report for the following objects:
- Production orders and their items
- Sales orders and their items
- Collective orders
- Summarization hierarchies
- Product cost collectors
- Material cost estimates
- Cost objects
Cost analysis is also used to display costs in production orders and process orders, provided the corresponding Customizing settings were made in the control parameters of the Information System.
Note on upward compatibility:
The Report Writer reports used in earlier releases still function, and the software is still maintained. However, new developments in this area are not expected. These reports can still be accessed since they are used in some roles.
Effects on Customizing
It is no longer necessay to import or generate Report Writer reports.
