Scheduling: New Functions and Changes for Release 3.0

Description

The following changes have been made to scheduling in Release 3.0:

Until 3.0, the system scheduled break times by distributing them equally throughout the day. As of Release 3.0, you can determine the exact time of day when breaks occur by using an indicator in Customizing (Control table for scheduling). Therefore, the system can no longer schedule a start or finish during a break time.
As of 3.0, you no longer have to decide whether midpoint scheduling is necessary for operations in an order. The system does this for you and automatically carries out midpoint scheduling, if necessary.
Now for Release 3.0, there are two different indicators in the control key for scheduling and for creating capacity requirements in the operation. For further information, look in Release notes under "Indicator: Capacity planning in the control key".
Until release 3.0, the system transferred the unchanged results of rough-cut and rate-based scheduling from the planned order whenever you created a production order.
Now when you create a production order, you can carry out rough-cut and rate-based scheduling without a planned order.
An indicator in the capacity profile controls whether the results of rough-cut and rate-based scheduling are adjusted.
You can use a collective order to combine several planned or production orders. A collective order represents several production levels in a structure. You can schedule an individual order, a sub-tree or the entire collective order. If you schedule the entire collective order or a sub-tree, you have to enter outline dates in the main order. The system schedules all of the orders contained in the collective order or sub-tree taking the outline dates entered into account. The system calculates basic dates for all orders.
You determine whether you have to enter the time of day in addition to basic dates for process orders using an indicator in Customizing (Scheduling types).
