A field catalog includes all of the fields which can be selected when creating or maintaining an archive information structure.

You can use it to establish which fields are incorporated in the information structure, and whether they should be key- or data fields. You can decide whether key- or data fields should be incorporated into the info structure. The fields contained in a field catalog are always archiving object specific.
