Time Dependency in Commitment Items

Description

As of Release 3.0, account assignment items are time-dependent - that is, the attributes of an account assignment item (name and description) can have different characteristics in different time intervals.

However, the attributes "Financial transaction" and "Item category" have the same value in all time intervals.

Procedure when defining time intervals

You first set your account assignment items, either via the hierarchy graphic or via the individual maintenance. If you do not want to work with time dependencies, you need not consider anything else.

If you want to maintain account assignment items on a time basis, you must go to the change mode of the corresponding account assignment item. Only when changing master data records can you maintain time intervals. For every account assignment item created, a maximum validity time interval of 01/01/1900 to 12/31/9999 is set automatically. You can now change this by creating new time intervals for a created object (= account assignment item).

To do this, choose Edit -> Analysis time interval. A dialog box appears. Here choose the function key Other analysis time interval and then enter the time interval you require. You then branch to the basic screen for commitment item maintenance and there either change the name or the description of the account assignment item. This way, you can maintain several time-dependent data records for one account assignment item.

Example:

You create an account assignment item from 1/1/1992 until 12/31/1999. You then change the object by defining other attributes for the time interval from 1/1/1995 until 12/31/1995. After this, three data records are stored in the system:

When creating time-dependent master records, you must ensure that the contiguous time intervals differ in at least one attribute. In addition, there must not be any gaps between the time intervals. It is not possible to delete time intervals.

If you have already defined several time intervals for an account assignment item, you can display the time interval list from the request screen for changing account assignment items. You can choose and edit certain time intervals in the list. If you do not choose a time interval, a "+" appears in the corresponding fields with different contents (name and description).

Example

The name of an account assignment item is

By double-clicking on the field with the "+", you receive a breakdown of all the existing names, along with the corresponding time intervals.
