Changes in Aspect Data Structures, Aspect
Environment and Field Catalog
Description
Aspect data structure
- The table type POOL is no longer allowed for new tables.
- Characteristics with time-dependent values (master data)
- For characteristics with time-dependent values (master data) such as cost
center, activity type, the time dependence is suppressed in EIS, since it does
make any sense from the point of view of the information system (in EIS,
reporting is carried out summarily across periods and no individual amount is
posted to a cost center, that is, the check for validity already occurred in
the previous application). Technically this means that no characteristic DATBI
(valid to) appears in the compound characteristic Cost Center although it
would be necessary due to the structure of the cost center table. The time
dependence of the characteristic Cost Center is recorded in the attribute:
Time logic.
- Characteristic attributes
- A fixed value (constant) can be assigned to a characteristic. The
characteristic thus exists in the database (for example, for validations of
data entry) but is no longer report-relevant (no aggregation/drilldown for
this characteristic).
- The conversion routine ALPHA can be assigned to a characteristic of the
category CHAR. For a characteristic with length 4, the value ' 01 ' is
represented by '0001' in this case.
Aspect environment
- On the maintenance screen for the aspect, modules can be generated for the
master data of the characteristics. This affects
- maintenance routines that are needed during master data transfer
- text reading modules for displaying the texts of characteristic
values
- view maintenance modules for the standardized maintenance of the
characteristic values
- These functions are also available under the menu option Tools.
Aspect tables
- There is a function for reorganizing the aspect tables. This way precisely
those aspects will be in the control tables for which there is an ABAP/4
Dictionary table.
Field catalog: Delete fields
- Fields which are no longer referenced by an aspect can be deleted from the
field catalog with this function. All objects belonging to the field like
generated ABAP/4 Dictionary objects, characteristic values and texts, comments
are deleted.
