Using the EDI procedure, standardized data can be transmitted electronically and processed automatically.
In the following steps, you make the default settings for posting electronically transmitted invoices, credit memos and incoming and outgoing payment advice notes. The invoices, credit memos and payment advice notes can either be posted directly or be put into a batch input session.
Before you make default settings for the postings, you must determine the requirements for EDI incoming and outgoing processing. For this, you must create a partner with the transaction code "FI01" for incoming invoices and credit memos and a partner with the transaction code "FI02" for incoming payment advice notes. You must create a partner with outgoing parameters for the outgoing payment advice note. "REMADV" is the message type and "PEXR2001" the data record for the outgoing payment advice notes.
To set up a partner for incoming and outgoing processing via EDI, you must maintain the partner profile for EDI. To do this, select Tools -> Adminstration -> Administration -> Process technology -> IDoc -> Partner profile from the R/3 main menu.
You can find more information on this in the section "Cross-application functions" in the documentation on "The IDoc Interface for Electronic Data Interchange (EDI)".
